IDEO替Vodafone設計的Interactive Cube得到2004年 IDEA Industrial Design Excellence Award Environments的Gold Winner，這也是我覺得四個環境類別的得獎設計中，和科技結合最深的。也就是這個設計在五年前根本就不會有出現或是實現的可能性，但是由於通訊科技以及互動技術的演變，讓這類空間_景觀_行為_互動得以在這樣的涵構下被設計與建立。

In early 2002, Vodafone approached IDEO to design a reception area within an 80-meter glass enclosure in their new headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal. IDEO wanted to connect the outside space -- a vast expanse of water -- with the inside space, and encouraged Vodafone to consider using mobile phone technology to allow lobby visitors to interact with objects outside the building.

在2002年初，Vodafone委託IDEO來設計接待區域的空間，這個空間大小為80米見方，四周由玻璃所圍繞的封閉區域，位於Lisbon(里斯本), Portugal的Vodafone新總部。IDEO希望連結外部空間(一個巨大的水池區)與內部空間，並且慫恿Vodafone考慮採用行動電話科技，讓在大廳的參訪者可以和在建築物外的物體有所互動。

Working with a team of in-house architects, IDEO designed a four-meter cube that acts not only as a distinctive landmark but also allows visitors to play interactive games using their own mobile phones anywhere within the building. IDEO created and commissioned most of the cube content, consisting of templates to display news, information and advertising, an interactive game and "toy," and a series of looped animations. Three other games and a "toy" were created by a Lisbon-based digital media company.

In addition to the cube, IDEO designed the reception area, which contains a reception table and other pieces of interactive furniture. The table houses two interactive displays to allow visitors to browse interactive maps of both the site itself and its relationship to the city of Lisbon.

除了這個立方體之外，IDEO也設計了接待區域，其中包括了接待櫃台的桌面以及其他具有互動功能的家具擺設。這個桌面有兩個互動展示螢幕，提供參訪者瀏覽基地的互動地圖以及基地和里斯本市之間的關連。

IDEO also suggested that the staff should be allowed to wander through the reception area with custom PDAs, to enable them to personally greet visitors, take down their details electronically and check if a meeting room was available via an online room-booking system.

IDEO也建議應該讓員工也可以拿著PDA漫步於這個接待區，讓他們可以親自問候參訪者，下載相關的電子資訊並且透過線上登錄服務系統查看是否有可供使用的會議室。
